Rachel has been dyeing wool yarns with acid dyes since the mid 60s when she developed a sequential method of dyeing. Since with acid dyes the water is clear when the dyeing is complete, the same hot acidic water can be used over and over again, thus saving on water, fuel and acid. . .nothing is thrown out. This technique is especially significant today because it is so environmentally safe. Our expert dyers use this method.

These dyes are the same as are used in the finest textile houses today and the colors are very fast to both light and washing. Once you have used hand-dyed yarns in your knitting and weaving and seen the subtle depth of color that the slight variations in dyeing make, you may find it difficult to use commercially dyed yarn again.
