July's featured tapestry is Connie Enzmann-Forneris!
The show will hang from July 1st to July 31st, 2016.
We have carried Connie's beautiful weavings for some time now. Yet, the pieces we will be featuring in July are nothing like what we usually show.
A while back, we visited a tapestry exhibition, featuring the work of one of the local guilds. As I glanced around the room, my eyes kept landing on these large, textural tapestries that appeared to be abstract landscapes, depicting the beauty of New Mexico. Upon further inspection, not only did I find that these were woven of beautiful handspun, hand-dyed yarns, but they were also woven by Connie Enzmann-Forneris!
I immediately sought her out, at a table on the other side of the room. I had to know more about these pieces. It turns out, these incredible tapestries were some of her early work. The more she talked about them, the more I fell in love. The conversation ended with me saying, "We need to have a show for you someday!"
And that day has finally come! A selection of Connie's early work will be hung in our little gallery for the month of July. We will also be having a reception for her on July 16th, where you can come meet her and learn more about these beautiful tapestries.
