This month we decided to play around with dyeing over all heathered natural yarns. We chose two natural tans and two medium greys. We usually do not use these yarns for Churro Club, instead relying on white and our light grey for a more predictable outcome.
At the suggestion of our Churro wool supplier, Connie Taylor, I tried to come up with a theme relating to the Super Blood Moon we just witnessed. Well, I came up with a plan for a red (Blood Moon), yellow (Moonstruck), and blue (Super Moon) and a violet (Lunar). Those were to be the names, I thought!
This month’s recipes were all original and never tried before. So, dyeing over yarns I usually don’t, with recipes not tested, I anticipated some surprises! Well, we sure got some!
The red turned out dark purple over medium grey. The yellow turned greenish over the tan. The blue turned dark teal. The only one to turn out as I envisioned, was the violet!
Since most of these colors do not relate to our theme of the moon, I have come up with some different names.
Once the yarns were dyed and dried, hanging in our yard, I said to Teresa “I’m pretty sure these are Mardi Gras colors!”
We hope you like this month’s colors as much as we do!

The skein in your monthly box will be a different dyelot than bulk orders. This means that color may vary slightly.
Every bulk order will contain the same dyelot. However, if you order a dyelot on the 1st and we ship it and then you order more of that same color on the 15th, there is a very good chance that each shipment will be a different dyelot.
We have a few dyelots of these colors dyed up and ready to ship. Once these are gone, we will wait until we have enough orders to use up a dyelot.
This is why we have a cutoff date. Once we reach that cutoff date, we will know how much more we need to dye and do one more run. This will happen shortly after the cutoff date and ship once it dries.
