This yarn is great for weaving, knitting, crocheting, rug hooking and just about anything else you can think of! We have seen this yarn used successfully for everything from tapestries, blankets, rugs and wall hangings to sweaters, slippers, mittens and scarves.

  • For weft-faced or tapestry weavings, we use this yarn with our 2-ply or 3-ply Worsted Wool Warp at 6 ends per inch for a tight weave. For a more flexible weave, we use our 2-ply Worsted Wool Warp or 12/6 Swedish Cotton Warp at 8 ends per inch.

For a weft-faced weave, each skein weaves approx. 1 sq. ft.

  • Churro sheep are on the threatened list of heritage breed sheep. They were originally brought to the New World by the Spanish in the 16th century. They became very important to the Native American and Hispanic cultures of the southwest, as a source of wool and food. They are known for their coarse wool, used in Navajo-style weaving (but you can knit with it too!).
